With multi-colored lights and powerful pumps pushing water high into the sky, the UAE’s newest attraction set a record as the largest fountain in the world.
The UAE unveiled the Palm Fountain located in (The Point) in the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai waterfront, in an event that was broadcast live around the world on Thursday night.
The asset manager of Nakheel Malls, the developer of the fountain, Jill Sangster, said it sits on 1,300 square meters of seawater.
It added that it contains 128 super-capacity pumps that push water to a height of 105 meters.
The Palm Fountain has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest fountain in the world, as it captured the title from Banpo Moonlightrenbo Fountain in South Korea.
This is the only multi-colored fountain in Dubai, decorated with more than 3,000 light-emitting diode (LED) lights and equipped with tools to control color tone and luster.
The fountain, open to the public all year round, is designed to perform a 3-minute water dance every 30 minutes.
